A pool with a view

As New Yorkers, we all can agree ā€” come summertime, the city gets HOT. What if there was a floating pool in the East River, right next to the Brooklyn Bridge, where you could easily go to cool off? That’s exactly what the guys at +Pool have in mind. Their proposal for a pool in the shape of a plus sign (modeled after a New York City intersection) is just starting to take shape, calling for a new city landmark that makes it possible to swim in clean, filtered river water without leaving town. To learn more about the concept, watch their video here. Tell me ā€” would you go swimming in a city pool like this?

Bronx Zoo

So, there was a small change of plans this weekend ā€” instead of going to see the Alexander McQueen exhibit, I went last minute to the Bronx Zoo. My parents have photographic proof that I went as a kid, but this is the first time I’ve been where I’m old enough to remember the trip. šŸ™‚ I’m still amazed that a zoo like that exists so close to Manhattan! I loved seeing the tigers and the polar bears the most, but the peacocks also put on quite an impressive show. We didn’t find out about the Monorail tour until it was too late in the day to go, but that only means one thing: we have a definite reason to go back!

Have you been to the Bronx Zoo before? What was your favorite animal to see?

The weekend is here!

Happy Friday my darling readers! What a week this was. Between the Bruins win and Matt’s website launching, there was a lot going on. I’m looking forward to a low key weekend. My big plan is to finally check out the Alexander McQueen exhibit at the Met. Have you been? It looks incredible, and I think a day spent wondering around a museum is exactly what I need. Wishing each of you a lovely weekend ahead! Here, to get it started right, a few happy posts from around the web:

Say ‘I do’ in Palm Springs

Two points for directness. I love the way that Lilia and Ryan, the gorgeous couple above, dubbed their wedding exactly what it is: the best day ever! From the invites to the bride’s bright pink lipstick, this Palm Springs celebration looks like it was a ton of fun. The photos ā€” taken by Sean Flanigan ā€” really capture the spirit of the day, right down to the last dip on the dance floor. Are you planning your own wedding? Where are you getting hitched?

Root for the home team

Forget the fact that I currently live in New York ā€” I’m a Red Sox fan, born and raised. Based on this, you can only imagine my delight upon watching the video series above from New Era. In Rivals Are Forever, John Krasinski and Alec Baldwin go head to head in support of their respective teams. Krasinski (a die-hard Sox fan) and Baldwin (a Yankees fan, natch) prove their comedic chops, not to mention their ability to trash talk with the best of them. If a video like this doesn’t make you run right out to buy a hat in support your home team, I’m not sure what will.

Bonus: Watch a behind-the-scenes video of the shoot.
