One month, 100 miles

Maybe it’s because I’m feeling inspired by the New York City marathon, maybe it’s the fact that the holiday season is near: I’m trying to re-commit to a regular running routine. My sister’s friend recently went on a running spree to get in shape and set a goal of running 100 miles in one month. She did it! What’s cool about this plan is that it comes with flexibility. Maybe one morning, you only have the energy/time for 2 miles, but another day, you can fit in five. It’s a fitness plan that’s challenging, but accommodates busy work schedules, lives, etc.

So, I’ve decided that I’m going to give it a try—and I’m tracking the miles I log using a big and colorful oversized post-it as a visual reminder of my goal. I will say, I’m going to go a bit easier on myself and try to do 50 miles. But it’s a good starting point (that means I need to run about 12 miles a week). We’ll see how it goes!

Do you have any tricks/games/apps/motivational tools for getting in shape when you’re short on time? I welcome any and all tips!

November Page: A toast!

Happy November, my darling readers! This weekend’s cold weather in New York announced November’s arrival more than anything else, right? Brrrr…. I finally got a cute new fall coat and I already need my puffer! 😉

There is so much to love about this month. A few of my favorites:

• Apple crisp (or apple pie!) made from scratch on Thanksgiving
• The beginning of festive parties and catching up with friends and family
• My always-in-November ritual of watching Home for the Holidays, starring Holly Hunter and Robert Downey, Jr.
• Carefully picking out holiday cards to send
• Oh, and don’t forget to vote

What do you enjoy about November?

The weekend is here!

Happy Friday—and happy Halloween! Are you dressing up? I wasn’t planning on it—we’re doing an old school horror movie night instead with friends—but, at the last minute, there’s a chance we’ll dress up, too. We’ll see! Wishing you a wonderful and relaxing weekend ahead. Here, to get it started right, a few happy posts from around the web:

Halloween movie night

Instead of dressing up this year for Halloween, Matt and I are joining our friends for a Halloween horror night—movie night to be exact. Our email chain debating which film to watch is loooong! It’s really hard to choose the perfect Halloween flick, especially when you have a scaredy cat like me weighing in. 😉

It looks like the winner is a classic: Halloween starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Mike Myers. Matt assures me it’s old school horror, but I’m not so sure!

Other films in the running: The Shining and Nightmare on Elm Street. If you ask me, I’m partial to something a bit more tame like Rosemary’s Baby or The Birds.

Any recommendations? Would love to hear your favorite Halloween films!

Kate Middleton x 3

I’m so happy that Kate Middleton is feeling better—and even happier to see her out and about in three new (and stunning) looks. That Alexander McQueen coat! That Jenny Packham gown! That Temperley London LBD! She looks amazing and healthy, too.

Out of everything she wore this past week, I think my favorite is actually those L.K. Bennett shoes. So pretty, right?

Can’t wait to see more of her second pregnancy style.

For a look back to when she was due with Baby George, go here, here, and here.
