Midsummer Night Swing

Do you like to dance? If yes, it seems that Midsummer Night Swing is your perfect date with New York. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the event, which kicks off tonight outside Lincoln Center and goes through July 13. Every evening, a different band performs under stars. Take a one-hour dance lesson from a trained instructor, then be ready to cut loose on the dance floor.

Swing, tango—you name it, they’ll be teaching it. If you ask me, I think disco night (with plenty of Donna Summer tunes) sounds the best. After 10 o’clock, the city’s noise ordinance kicks in, but on this occasion, the party doesn’t stop. For an extra $5, you’ll get a pair of headphones where the music is broadcast directly to your ears until 11:30. A silent dance party on the streets of New York? Totally cool.

A full calendar is available here. Do you think you’ll check this out?

Brooklyn update

It’s been almost six months since I moved to Brooklyn (time flies, right?) and I have to admit: I’m mildly obsessed with my new ‘hood. Case in point, Brooklyn Bridge Park. Matt and I have started our own ritual of sorts. Every Sunday evening, we take a stroll down to Brooklyn Bridge Park. There’s something so peaceful and breathtaking about looking across the water at Manhattan. The city and it’s busy-ness is right across the bridge, but somehow it feels a million miles away.  🙂

This past weekend, we hit the park on Saturday with friends, and reserved our evening stroll for tonight—Matt’s birthday!

Do you have a favorite neighborhood routine?

Red shoes

I’m all for red (or pink!) lips, but lately I’ve been contemplating a new pair of red shoes. What do you think? Paired with black pants and a striped shirt, this look is so classic…and French. I can’t decide between a cute pair of flats or these pumps

What do you think? Would you invest in red?

A Wes Anderson-inspired wedding

As far as wedding themes go, this one takes the cake: Jaime and Melinda—both huge fans of Wes Anderson—turned their California wedding into an homage to the talented director’s best work. I love it! From the colorful cake to the party favors and photo booth backdrop, it perfectly captures the whimsy of Wes. You can find many more photos here.

Are you a Wes Anderson fan? I loved Moonrise Kingdom!
