Here Lies Love

Lately, I’ve been writing a lot about theater, but with the 2013 Tony Awards coming up, it’s tough to resist the fresh crop of brilliant shows. Case in point: Here Lies Love at the Public Theater. This production is actually off-Broadway—which means it’s not eligible for a Tony—but, in my opinion, it’s the production that most deserves to win one.

It’s the story of Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos, the former president and first lady of the Philippines. The music (yes, it’s a musical!) is written by Fat Boy Slim and David Byrne. Walk through the doors, and be prepared to be captivated by her story—and invited to sing and dance on stage.

Get a sneak peek at the music by listening to one of the songs here. Then, do everything possible to snag a ticket to this show now!

As cool as water ballet

For those of you who spin and swim to workout, AQUA—a new studio in Tribeca—is combining the benefits of both: Spinning in water. What a fun and creative idea! I heard about this class thanks to PureWow, and I have to admit, I really want to give it a try. Right now, the class is available to women only, and according to the website, all you need is a bathing suit. AQUA will take care of the rest.

What do you think of this concept? Is this something you’d try?

June Page: A toast!

June, already! How did that happen? May was a blur—but I’m so excited that, this month, summer officially arrives (and so does the heat!). 🙂 What do you love most about June? I can’t wait for weekend escapes to Governor’s Island (and the annual Jazz Age Lawn Party), rooftop happy hours while viewing modern art, and lots more time to kick back and relax.

Now, you go: What’s your favorite thing about June?
