The New Yorker

This seems to be the perfect week to post this 2006 cover of the New Yorker. I have it hanging up in my bedroom as a reminder that crazy weeks happen to the best of us! I’ve totally been there — carrying one too many bags, trying to efficiently make it out the door, and hitting a stumbling block or two. Whenever I see this cartoon, it always makes me smile. 🙂

Rear Window timelapse

Are you a fan of Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window starring Grace Kelly and James Stewart? If you are, you’ll love the creative editing above. Jeff Desom manages to piece together footage to provide a brand new perspective on the hit film and the range of activity going on in the apartments surrounding that Greenwich Village courtyard.

Watching this three-minute clip makes me eager to watch the film again. Have you seen this movie? What’s your favorite scene?

Looking forward to April

When I saw Em’s blog post listing her April favorites, I had to re-post. Why? Because I agree with every single one of her picks. 🙂 I love the fresh tulips, the spring showers, the home opener for the Boston Red Sox, the chance to reminisce about last year’s Royal Wedding. April is a great month! Check out more of Em’s picks here. And tell me — what do you love most about April? I’d love to know!

Lipstick Trend: Bold and Bright

Have you done much experimenting this season with colorful lips? A couple of weeks ago, I decided to try the trend: hot pink lipstick for my night out on the town. My shade of choice? Bungalow Pink from the Michael Kors for Estée Lauder collection. I must admit, it was a bit of a challenge to wear! I loved the feel of the initial application — the bright color definitely went on smooth. But maintaining the crispness all night through dinner and drinks was tough. I re-applied twice, but the damage was done: I had to scrub, scrub, scrub before going to sleep just to get it off.

For those of you that go bold with your lip color, any tips? Would love any (and all) advice you can share!

The weekend is here!

My darling readers, I’m off! As I talked about yesterday, this weekend marks the first of seven weddings that I have this year. My friend Lucy is getting hitched in Fort Lauderdale, and I can’t wait to celebrate (and soak up the sun). Any fun plans for the next couple of days off? Wishing each of you a lovely weekend ahead. Here, to get it started right, a few happy posts from around the web:

Don in the morning.

Ode to Paris.

My new floppy hat.

Deep dive.

The lovely, the beautiful Meryl.

Easter fools.

Slow motion ballet.

A Madewell spring.

The terrible twos.

Downton dogs
