Fashion Page: Fall Bags

So, there are three bags I’ve had my eyes on lately…and I think at least two of them could seamlessly make the transition into fall. The first is this darling Cameron Street Byrdie bag from Kate Spade in lilac petal. It seems so sweet for end of summer/early fall, don’t you think?

I also am really into the idea of a backpack—like this dipped mini zip from Everlane. It just seems so useful, considering the millions of things I take with me to work every day in addition to my purse. Plus, as I age (gracefully), it seems like having a backpack would be something that would work wonders in terms of alleviating pressure on just my right shoulder and back.

Last, but not least, I’ve been in love with this woven Alice tote from Clare V since the first time I laid eyes on it back in May in the window of their new Brooklyn shop. It’s so lovely and spring/summery. Even though I’d only get a few more weeks of wear out of it this year, I know it’s something I’d be thrilled to unpack–and use–next season.

What fall buys do you have your eyes on? Would love to hear!

Douro Valley doc

Screen Shot 2016-08-14 at 12.20.39 PMOne of the most magical parts of my honeymoon was the few days we spent in Douro Valley in Portugal. It is probably the most breathtaking part of the world I’ve ever seen–wine or no wine–and completely in another league in comparison to places like Napa and Provence. (Vino regions I also adore.)

Although Douro produces a number of wine varieties, Port is the area’s bottle de resistance. That’s why I was delighted to learn about A Year in Port, a new documentary about what exactly goes into producing this type of wine, available to download on iTunes September 6.

Watch the trailer below and tell me what you think. I’ll definitely be watching this—and reliving my honeymoon—the moment it comes out.

The weekend is here!

tumblr_obp03mpTCN1uo66cbo1_1280Happy Friday, my darling readers! What do you have planned for the weekend? I’m going to check out this play with Matt. Looks fun! Wishing you a wonderful and relaxing Saturday/Sunday ahead. Here, to get it started right, a few happy posts from around the web:

Love this dress for beating the heat.

OMG, definitely used to make these marbles when I was a kid.

This recipe tastes like summer.

Just replaced my moisturizer with this.

Made me laugh.

Yessss.

Packing these sunglasses for California.

Been binging this show and this show lately.

What 11 New Yorkers wear to the beach.

OK, so this is old, but it always makes me so happy.

Travel Page: San Fran + LA

Screen Shot 2016-08-13 at 2.43.06 PM

In a few short weeks, I’m San Francisco- and LA-bound. First, for a wedding up north at a place called the Cheese School (hello, dream venue), then I’m headed south to see my sis. I’m so excited–but I’m also making lengthy lists of all the fun things going I can’t wait to do and see. Here, my top picks…

1. First and foremost, I’m pumped to see my niece. She’s the cutest! Here she is with the backpack we brought her back from our honeymoon. (We found it at this adorable shop in Bordeaux.)

2. I want to go back to the LACMA and Pershing Square. There’s an exhibit going on at Pershing Square right now called Liquid Shard. Also, Rain Room is at LACMA. (Still regret that we missed this when it was in New York.)

3. We’re toying with the idea of hitting up Disneyland. Right now, it’s my birthday plan. California Adventure, FTW.

4. I’m super curious about taking a yoga class out on the water. It’s called Yogaqua and you apparently do it on paddleboards in Marina del Rey.

5. We *might* go to Napa or Sonoma. Matt hasn’t been in a while and I’m always down for sipping wine.

6. I’d LOVE to see this Troop Beverly Hills parody show. Phyllis Nefler is my fave.

Let me know if there are any other San Francisco or Los Angeles things I shouldn’t miss!
