Best cookie ever!

skucover_saltoftheearth_cookie_detail_1I’ve eaten a lot of chocolate chip cookies in my life, but this chocolate chip cookie from Salt of the Earth Bakery is, hands down, the best chocolate chip cookie I have ever tasted. It’s the ratio of chocolate to cookie to salt that makes it work — and not just any salt. Maldon Sea Salt. Yum.

I know you shouldn’t eat your feelings, but as I wrapped up my job over the past few weeks, this became the antidote to tears for me and my cube mates at work. Feeling sad? Time for a quick run to get The Cookie from the market downstairs. I swear, it helped! This cookie is worth every calorie, every extra minute on the treadmill, etc. Trust me! And if you don’t trust me, trust Elle magazine. I love their fashion editor’s review of this sweet treat:

“Do you know that scene in Troop Beverly Hills where the little girl belts out the (questionably never released as an EP) hit, “Cookie Time”? That is what I feel like singing every time I think about these cookies.”

Order them here. Do you have a chocolate chip cookie recipe you swear by?

Please Touch the Art

Blog_RBMy darling readers! My apologies for the lack of posts over the last few weeks. Lots of changes on my end — new job, wedding date confirmed, I even got a haircut (love my go-to summer bob!). But let’s talk important stuff: Have you checked out the Please Touch the Art exhibit in Brooklyn Bridge Park?

I’m pretty much obsessed. The best part is that it’s an art exhibit that I get to attend for free almost every morning. It’s on my running path! Appearing Rooms (the walls of water pictured above) is my favorite spot — located right beneath the bridge next to Brooklyn Bridge Garden Bar — but don’t miss Mirror Labyrinth NY, a maze of mirror-polished stainless steel that perfectly reflects the skyline. One more: Sprinkled throughout the park are 16 orangey-red benches, perfect for lounging, soaking up the sunshine, people-watching, and more.

Here’s my recommended itinerary:

1. Go on a Sunday! Start at Smorgasburg — get a ramen burger. 😉

2. Walk toward the Brooklyn Bridge. Just before the basketball and handball courts, you’ll spot the Mirror Labyrinth NY. Take lots of selfies.

3. Keep walking! Pass the pop-up pool. At Pier One, you’ll see it: Appearing Rooms. Study the water patterns, then walk to one of the four quadrants (at your own risk).

4. End the day with a glass of wine at the Garden Bar. #perfectsunday

The weekend is here!

Happy Friday, my darling readers! What do you have planned for the weekend? I’m hoping to make it to this pop-up shop on the Upper East Side. Looks so cool, right? Wishing you a wonderful and relaxing weekend ahead. Here, to get it started right, a few happy posts from around the web:

An awesome ode to Spanx! (From last week, but worth the share!)

Another big part of my weekend plans.

How to shop the farmer’s market.

A flower-inspired wine selection.

The next High Line!

Love this cute gingham dress!

Potato donuts.

Why Julia loves Amal. (Plus, Clooney. Sigh.)

Real ads from the Mad Men era.

What a cool music map.

The end of an era

Screen Shot 2015-05-10 at 6.09.36 PM

Are you excited for the absolute very last ever episode of Mad Men this Sunday? I am excited to find out how it will all wrap up, but also so sad to say goodbye to such an amazing show. So much has happened in such a short final season — I am so intrigued by how the iconic series might end.

This D.B. Cooper plot is by far my favorite conspiracy theory (and also the most out there!), especially given everything that went down in the recent episode titled “Lost Horizon”. Here’s a handful more theories to contemplate as the countdown to the final episode ticks down. Plus, did you see this teaser trailer for the finale? Definitely a tear jerker!

What do you think is going to happen to Don, Peggy, Joan and crew? (On a side note, I’m still reeling from what happened with Betty last week.) I’m planning to mix up a Manhattan (or my fave cocktail) and watch!

PS: Don’t forget to visit this Mad Men exhibit!

A recipe for pimento cheese

enhanced-buzz-7565-1385498173-21

The foodie in me can’t help but continue to crave two staples of Southern cuisine: fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese. I found a way to take home the first, thanks to a friend we met in Beaufort who tipped me off to the town’s General Store. There, they sell local green tomato pickles from Low Country Produce, perfect for summer BLTs. As for the second, that same friend shared the secret to creating the best pimento cheese above the Mason-Dixon line…
